ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The airport “Giovan Battista Pastine” of Ciampino, managed and developed by Airports of Rome, company of the Mundys Group, has obtained for the first time the 4 stars Skytrax, one of the most important awards in the world panorama for the quality of airport services and for the activity of the staff. After the 5 stars obtained in 2022 and confirmed in April 2025 to Leonardo da Vinci in Rome Fiumicino, also the Ciampino airport – which in 2025 exceeded the share of 4 million travelers, up 3.3% compared to the previous year – thus consolidates its position in the international context, entering the elite of European airports, in the category between 2-5 million passengers, certified with a rating of 4 stars. Skytrax, the leading global air transport rating body, carries out evaluations of over 800 parameters related to passenger products and services, following a standardized methodology that allows comparison between large hubs and regional ports. The evaluation, assigned to the end of an in-depth analysis carried out during 2025, has recognized to G.B. Pastine high quality standards along the entire travel experience, rewarding the comfort of the terminal, cleanliness, signs and orientation, the quality of the service offered by staff, security processes and border/immigration controls. Skytrax has also enhanced the range of charging points and working areas, family services and assistance to passengers with reduced mobility (PRM), along with some initiatives to make waiting more enjoyable and engaging, such as table football, musical instruments and play areas for children.“ The recognition of the 4 stars Skytrax at Ciampino Airport – said Marco Troncone, CEO of Rome Airports – represents a further, important step in the path of continuous improvement that we are carrying out throughout the Roman airport system. G.B. Pastine plays a strategic role for Rome and Italy and is one of the most popular airports in Europe for quality and operational reliability in its category. This result enhances the specific role of the port in a dual-use operating context, requiring high standards of efficiency, punctuality and reliability. Skytrax certification is a recognition of teamwork and the ability to translate a long-term industrial vision into measurable results, focusing on passenger experience and operational excellence.” In recent years, Airports of Rome has started a path of valorisation of Ciampino airport, aimed at improving its infrastructure profile and the overall offer, in accordance with the sustainable and innovative development model promoted by the airport system of the Capital, which has recently marked a historical record closing the year with over 55 million travelers coming or leaving. In this context, the infrastructure modernisation of terminal equipment will continue in 2026: After the interventions already made, further improvements are planned already in the coming months to consolidate and make even more homogeneous the experience of passengers in all areas of the port of call.
