ROME (ITALPRESS) – Over the next 5 years, micro and small enterprises must hire 1.7 million workers between turnover and increased headcount, and “it is our duty to provide answers.” This is how the president of the National Confederation of Crafts and Small and Medium Enterprises (Cna), Dario Costantini, opened the annual assembly in Rome, which focused on young people and work. The first need, Costantini explained, is “to update the framework law of craftsmanship after 40 years,” but it is necessary to address the great emergency of the demographic winter. In the last 10 years alone, 300,000 young people have left Italy and there are almost 2 million young people who are not studying and not working. The Cna president then announced the signing of a protocol with the Ministry of Education and Merit soon to raise awareness among young people about craftsmanship. “We are implementing in Egypt the first European project on professional corridors for crafts with the collaboration of the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Labor and the European Union,” Costantini stressed. Cna has already signed two protocols “with the Community of Sant’Egidio and the Community of San Patrignano for the placement of disadvantaged young people in our companies, familiar and protective places. “Looking at Europe, one of the priorities of the next legislature, for Costantini, must be “the creation of a single European market. In particular, energy costs are a serious handicap for competitiveness: “Our companies pay 30 percent more for energy than the European, 50 percent more than their French competitors and 60 percent more than their Spanish competitors.” The Cna president then addressed the green transition, stressing the need for it not to be decoupled from industrial policies. “We are in favor of the green transition, but the automotive crisis and the packaging regulations make clear the urgency of reviewing its programming, on which one third of European regulatory production was focused in the previous legislature with 150 acts and documents. Lots of regulations but little time and insufficient economic support. “As for Transition 5.0, “it needs to be simplified, it needs to be made easier and longer-lived because 18 paperwork is too much for a small business.” In addition, “we are waiting for the grounding of the 300 million euros in grants provided by Repower EU to support self-generation of small businesses.” Costantini then called for a discussion table for the reordering of home bonuses, stressing the significant impact on the economy and the environment. “Every 10 billion invested generates 12 billion in added value, activates 200 thousand jobs, cuts 700 thousand tons per year of CO2 and reduces utility bills by 460 euros per year.” Finally, he confirmed his opposition to mandatory insurance for businesses against catastrophic risks. “The answer to those who have suffered, for the umpteenth time, flood damage can certainly not be compulsory insurance, the conditions and prices of which are unknown, but it is only known that for every 100euro of policy, 22.25 euros will go into the state coffers. “Also present at the Cna annual meeting were the ministers of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, and Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara. “By the end of this year, I will present in the Cdm a first annual law on SMEs, foreseen by a 2011 legislation, which will provide an incentive for aggregation and a rule that will facilitate the generational transition, including of skills,” said Urso, who also spoke about energy: “The cost is higher in Italy because other countries have other sources. In France and Spain an important part of the energy mix is made by nuclear power, so Italy must also return to nuclear power. Alongside the development of renewables, we need to provide safe and continuous energy at a low price that guarantees us strategic autonomy, to put the continent in economic security. “When we have to think about the future of our country, we have to start with an educational system that is able to offer entrepreneurs those technicians and skilled workers who can help keep the competitiveness of our companies high,” Valditara stressed. “It is also fundamental to allow entrepreneurs, managers and technicians, to be able to teach in schools exactly like a teacher of literature or math, because we need to bring these new skills and open up the school.
