Cremonese-Brescia clashes, 24 investigated and 14 Daspo

CREMONA (ITALPRESS) – The Cremona Police Headquarters has concluded a first phase of investigative activities related to the violent clashes between fans that occurred on Dec. 29, 2024, during the soccer match between Cremonese and Brescia Calcio, valid for the Serie B championship.

Thanks to an articulate and timely investigative activity conducted by the Digos of the Cremona Police Headquarters, with the support of the Scientific Police, the Brescia Digos, and specialized public order units, it was possible to reconstruct the entire dynamics of the disturbances and identify numerous individuals involved. There were two main moments in which the violent episodes occurred: the first clash took place in the late morning, around 10:20 a.m., in Piazza Libertà, when a group of Brescian fans deliberately reached a city bar, a meeting point for local fans, provoking scuffles with the throwing of objects and hand-to-hand clashes, which were promptly contained by the Police.

The second incident occurred in the afternoon, at the end of the match, along Via del Macello, where a group of Brescian fans attempted to force the security cordon to confront the Cremonese fans. Only the decisive intervention of the Mobile Department, through the use of tear gas, prevented contact between the two factions.

A major element that emerged during the investigation was the presence, among the participants in the clashes, of two French nationals, known to belong to the most radical fringe of the Olympique Marseille supporters and longtime links to organized supporters in Cremona. The identification of one of the two required cross-border investigative activity, conducted in collaboration with French police through the Italian-French Police Cooperation Center in Ventimiglia.

Digos activities were developed on several fronts, including: analysis of urban video surveillance images and forensic police footage; cross-referencing of stadium access data with fan ID cards; monitoring of social networks and messaging platforms; photographic identifications and searches of police databases; and international cooperation in identifying foreign subjects.

To date, 24 people have been reported for crimes such as violence and resistance to a public official, damage and possession of offensive objects. Following the transmission of the acts by the Digos, the Anticrimine Division of the Cremona Police Headquarters activated the procedures for issuing Daspo orders. After analyzing individual conduct, 14 Daspo were issued under the signature of the Questore of the Province of Cremona. A total of 32 years of sports event bans were imposed, 15 of which included mandatory appearances.

Among them, three measures aggravated and validated by the judicial authority for repeat offenders) also include accessory prescriptions, i.e., the obligation to report to a police office during the course of football matches. Further info-investigative investigations are currently underway on other positions deemed worthy of further investigation, aimed at the adoption of additional Daspo measures against numerous other individuals who took an active part in the riots.
