Cross-country skiing, Pellegrino’s triumph in the 10km Fis in Muonio

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Federico Pellegrino’s triumph in the 10km free technique that completed the triptych of FIS races in Muonio, Finland, two weeks before the World Cup season kicks off. The champion from Valle d’Aosta dominated with the best time of 23’15″0 after taking the lead in each time trial, to beat Germany’s Friedrich Moch by 7″3 and Finland’s Arsi Ruuskanen by 16″9. A trio of excellent tests then for Pellegrino, who comes out of the Muonio tests with a podium in the sprint in classic, a placing close to the top ten in the distance in alternates on Saturday and today’s win. And in about ten days, it’s back to Finland for the first tests of the maximum circuit: between November 29 and December 1, an individual and a sprint in classic and a mass start in free technique are scheduled.Among the Azzurri, Davide Graz also did well, finishing fourth, 17″ behind his teammate, staying off the podium by a single tenth of a second. Just behind is Elia Barp (+17″6), fifth across the line and in line in turn for a podium finish for much of the distance, while Paolo Ventura is eighth at 21″0. Sixteenth place for Francesco De Fabiani who pays 48″ from Pellegrino, with Simone Daprà 20th at 55″3 and Michael Hellweger 36th at 1’26.Good Italian results also in the women’s race, which over the same distance saw seventh place for Caterina Ganz and tenth for Francesca Franchi.The best time was set by Germany’s Vicotria Carl, who after 25’42″3 of the race left behind host Kerttu Niskanen by 9″1, with Austria’s Teresa Stadlober in third at 28″5.Just over a minute was the delay paid by Ganz, who arrived at the finish line with the seventh time at 1’01″1 from the winner, also preceded by Pia Fink, Anne Kyllonen and Katharina Hennig.Just behind, closing out the day’s top10, was the other Trento-born Franchi, tenth at 1’07″2; Anna Comarella did not take part in the race.
