Cycling, at 33 years Simon Yates retired: in 2025 he won the Giro d’Italia

LONDRA (INGHILTERRA) (ITALPRESS) – Last June 1st, he celebrated the victory at the Giro d’Italia in Rome and today hangs the bike to the nail at only 33 years. Simon Yates takes everyone out of sight and announces via social retreat.

“It may surprise many, but it’s not a decision taken lightly – the social words of the Visma-Lease a Bike runner – I thought about it for a long time and now I feel it’s the right time to get away from this sport.” Yates therefore closes a career that has seen him triumph at Vuelta 2018 and collect ten successes of stage in the great laps, the last of which in the tenth fraction of last Tour. In its palmares, among other things, also the Tyrrhenian-Adriatico of 2020.

“The cycling has been part of my life since I remember – Yates writes, who started pedaling along with the twin Adam, also he professional runner – From races on track to the Velodromo of Manchester, to competitions and victories on the most important stages, until representing my country at the Olympic Games: he shaped every chapter of my life. I am deeply proud of what I managed to get and equally grateful for the lessons that this path taught me. The victories will always remain the most important moments, but also the toughest days and the setbacks were fundamental. They taught me resilience and patience, making success even more meaningful.”.
