Davis Cup Final Eight in Italy from 2025 to 2027

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Italy will host the Davis Cup Final 8 from 2025 to 2027. This was announced by the ITF during the draw ceremony for the qualifiers’ first-round matches scheduled for February. As the host nation, Italy is qualified by right for the Final 8 in November. The Netherlands, a finalist in 2024, was given the second wild card and will enter the competition in September, at the second round of the Qualifiers, i.e., the decisive clashes for access to the Final 8 that from this year take the place of the group stage. As for the venue, it will be Bologna, at least next year, that will pick up the baton from Malaga, the Spanish city that has hosted the last three editions, including the two – 2023 and 2024 – that saw Volandri’s Azzurri triumph. “We are delighted with this partnership with the Fitp for the Davis Cup Final 8,” comments David Haggerty, number 1 Itf, “Italy has a rich history in tennis and has proven it can organize world-class sporting events. We are confident that over the next three years, working with the Itf, we can take the Davis Cup even higher, providing an unforgettable experience for players and fans.” “We are thrilled to have been chosen as organizers and look forward to welcoming the world’s best teams to our country this November and for the next three years,” comments Angelo Binaghi, Federtennis number one. “Italy first participated in the Davis Cup nearly 100 years ago and is proud to have lifted this iconic trophy three times. We will work with the Itf to give the fans a spectacular event.” The Itf’s decision thus allows Italy to return to the scene of a Davis Cup title challenge for the first time since 1998, since the match against Sweden in Milan in fact decided by the rupture of the right shoulder tendon suffered on the first day by Andrea Gaudenzi, now president of the ATP. – photo Image – (ITALPRESS).
