ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Numbers. Corps. Vite. Not to forget them. ‘Don’t forget’. It is the graphic project created by the students and teachers of the two years in Design for the publishing of the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania on the occasion of the Day of Memory. A work that embraces and unites the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and the whole world of Higher Education, Athens, Scientific and Institutions of Higher Education, Artistic, Musical and Coreutical (AFAM) on the occasion of 27 January. A graphic work of impact, strong, direct, without rhetoric, which wants to focus on the value of Memory. Because it is only the ‘Memory that makes it free’, as the young designers themselves explain by talking about their realization.
“Memory is not a rite, but an exercise of responsibility concerning the present, because the Shoah continues to question consciences – says the Minister of the University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini -. I thank the students and students of the Accademia di Belle Arti of Catania for this video that faces that tragedy with a lucid look, remembering how far hate can be pushed when normalized. Keeping Memory, also through culture and formation – Minister Bernini concludes – means defending human dignity and transmitting to new generations the value of awareness and respect.”.
Since 2019 the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania – led by the director Gianni Latino – is continuously engaged in commemoration initiatives of the Day of Memory. From Catania to Milan, from Rome to Syracuse, the Academy has promoted and participated in several stages of confrontation and active involvement, through the production of communication works designed with the aim of construction and transmission of sense, stories and Memory at the service of civil society. From exhibitions, seminars, concerts, to theatrical interpretations: in these days are many appointments promoted by Universities, Research Agencies and AFAM Institutions to commemorate the anniversary of 27 January. A program full of initiatives and events. The calendar of appointments is available in the web section dedicated to the MUR portal: https://www.mur.gov.it/comunication/events/day-of-memory -2026.
