Delivered in Rome the Asi “Oscars” of Italian sport

ROME (ITALPRESS) – The 19th edition of the “ASI Sport&Culture” Awards, the “Oscars” of Italian sports, was held in Rome at the Salone d’Onore of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), with awards presented in five sections.

Opening the ceremony was ASI President Claudio Barbaro: “I am proud to be president of this wonderful organization that has grown even further. To think that I can represent two million members makes us proud and gives us so many responsibilities, we need to give as many answers as possible and we are gearing up to do this in the best way possible.”

Daniele De Rossi won the award for the “Ethical Gesture” section for taking over the Ostia Mare club, with the goal of making it a model of social inclusion. “This is a big neighborhood where a lot of things happen. A part of cinema and television has meant that the narrative is always about the negative side,” commented the 2006 world champion. A part that definitely exists, but we will try to put the spotlight on the good part.”

Another great sportswoman honored was Caterina Banti, for the “Athlete of the Year Award” section: “It is an honor for me to be here. I decided to stop Olympic activity because I think everything has its proper time. Better to retire in beauty than to continue without guaranteeing the same performance,” said the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 gold medalist. A double gold also emphasized by Coni president Giovanni Malagò: “She was the only Italian to succeed because she is an athlete of another category, both in head and technique.”

As for the “Media Award,” named after the memory of Gian Piero Galeazzi, the winner was Mundialido, a soccer tournament that succeeds in bringing the many migrant communities in the Roman area and, for the past few years, also in Milan, into dialogue and coexistence.

“The communication award represents the essence of sports, because among the many goals of sports is to communicate values such as respect for the opponent and rules,” said Lazio Regional Council President Antonello Aurigemma.

Municipality of Cantù, with the Cantù Arena Spa, won the “ICSC, Sports Facilities and Promotion” award. “To award a sports infrastructure is to recognize them as having an important promotional role. Sports infrastructures are not only places for sports but for social gathering. Better choice could not be made, it is an example that must be followed in the future,” the words of the president of the Institute for Sports and Cultural Credit, Beniamino Quintieri.

Finally, startup Akuis, which developed “Sintesi,” a Smart Gym that allows people to work out at home or at the gym while occupying just two square meters of space, was awarded in the “Technological Innovation” section. Presenting the award was the president of Sport and Health, Marco Mezzaroma: “Modern life is hectic, being able to exercise in two square meters at home with technological support is an excellent business idea. We have the ambition to get Italians off the couch. By now we are going in the direction of technological innovation, they have put it into practice with this beautiful project,” he concluded.
