TIRANA (ALBANIA) (ITALPRESS) – Strong tensions and clashes, with launches of tens of molotov and stones in Tirana, Albania, in front of the Government Palace: in the sight of the protesters of the opposition the premier, Edi Rama. The tension, as reported by the Albanian agency ATA, rose immediately after the conclusion of the speech of the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, when some protesters targeted the police – deployed to protect the building – who used waterers to disperse the crowd. The budget is 16 wounded agents and 13 arrests. That last night was the third national protest organized by the PD, which calls for the resignation of the government, the formation of a technical executive and the conduct of new elections.
For the Interior Minister, Albana Koçiu, the violence of protesters is equivalent to “a murder attempt”. Speaking with journalists in front of the Traumatological Hospital in Tirana, where wounded agents are admitted, some seriously burned, Koçiu stressed that “this was not a protest or a confrontation. It was an attempted murder.” Koçiu then took the dose. “Those who attacked police officers are not demonstrators. They are organized criminals,” he said, exhorting institutions to “respond firmly” to what he called “a dangerous precedent”.
