NOVARA (ITALPRESS) – The Carabinieri have performed among the provinces of Novara, Varese, Imperia and Vercelli a vast anti-drug operation called “Back Door”, coordinated by the Procura della Repubblica of Novara. Overall, 21 people are gathered from precautionary measures, considered – in the state of investigations – seriously suspected of various reasons of traffic and detention of narcotic substances, as well as extortion and falsity in acts intended for the judicial authority. The measure, issued by the GIP of the Court of Novara, provides for 4 custodians in prison, 4 house arrests and 13 measures between obligations of residence and presentation to the judicial police.
The survey, developed between January and July 2025, saw the involvement of the Nucleo Investigativo dei Carabinieri of Novara with the support of the Central Directorate for Anti-drug Services and territorial departments, cinofile units and specialized operational teams. According to the investigators, the group would have managed an articulated system of supply and distribution of cocaine, hashish and marijuana, with ramifications also in the provinces of Milan, Alessandria and Imperia, in particular to Diano Marina and Serravalle Scrivia. At the center of the organization, a figure considered to be a reference, a fifty-year-old from Novara, who would coordinate the purchase of large quantities of narcotics from even foreign suppliers.
The investigations, conducted through interceptions, pawnings and technical activities, documented the use of coded languages, intestate utilities and encrypted messaging applications to evade controls. Among the terms used to indicate the drug were expressions such as “latte”, “white”, “piastrelle” and “green”. A key passage of the investigation dates back to June 2025, when a control led to the identification of a logistic base in Galliate and the seizure of narcotic substances, cash and packaging material, with a stop in scourage. Investigative activities have also brought out hypothesis of extortion related to the recovery of drug trafficking credits, with threats and pressures also towards family members of the investigations, as well as an attempt to pollute by means of false documentation to obtain less restrictive measures. According to the polluters, the framework emerged evidence of an organized and grounded criminal structure on the territory, equipped with operational capabilities and tools to evade controls and hinder investigations.
