The former world No. 1 got the better of Czech Jirì Lehecka in three sets in the round of 16. Djokovic won the first two 6-3, 6-4 and closed the score in the third on tie-break 7-6 (4). Novak equaled the all-time record of 15 quarterfinals at the Australian Open of Roger Fededer and Jiri Lehecka. He will challenge Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who won the quarterfinal against Jack Draper, who was forced to retire when he was down 7-5, 5-1, due to hip problems.
