Dl bills, Barbaro “A strong signal for families and businesses”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “In a historical and geopolitical context peculiar as the present one, the institutional sense of converting a decree that addresses the theme of dear energy is prevailed on every other consideration. The Government, with the enrichment of parliamentary work, has worked to give a strong signal of support to families and small and medium-sized enterprises, intervening both on the reduction of costs in bill and on the front of national energy security. Central, in this regard, the promotion of long-term bargaining for enterprises: decoupling the price of electricity from that of gas, companies will be able to access calmed prices, with positive effects on the competitiveness of the country system”. Thus the undersecretary to the Environment and Energy Security, Claudio Barbaro, intervened in the Chamber on the discussion on the bills decree.

“The work in Parliament has been crucial because it has made it possible to integrate the contents of the decree with amendments approved in commission that have further strengthened the requirements of containment of energy costs, the pursuit of the objectives of decarbonization and the safeguard of the energy security of the country system maintaining always primary the interest of protection of Italian families,” he added.

“Among the innovations introduced, the extension to the district heating of the facilities already previewed for the natural gas in favor of the end users. It also reinforces the protection of vulnerable consumers, with measures to ensure greater transparency in billing and bills and a more effective contrast to aggressive practices of telemarketing in the energy sector. At the same time, with the new set of refunds to gas thermoelectric producers, it intervenes on electricity generation costs, reducing tariff components and, subject to European authorization, compensating part of ETS costs. In this way – Barbaro explained – the decree acts directly on the wholesale price of energy, with benefits that reflect on the whole system, while maintaining a framework of consistency with European legislation and climate objectives. The decree also intervenes on one of the most discussed notions of the development of renewable energies: the so-called virtual saturation of the network, a structural obstacle that until today no government had faced and risked to slow down the country’s energy transition. This decree is not limited to temporary support measures. Redesign the energy sector for the coming years, with the protection of Italian families always in the first place. We are aware that it is only a first intervention and we will continue to monitor the price trends in relation to the international context, ready as always to support the productive world and the purchasing power of families. We want to extend, in the final, thanks to the Parliament, to the Minister Pichetto and to all the technical structures of the Mase who have worked in close collaboration with the offices of the Presidency of the Council to promote a measure that had at heart all the issues considered of prime national interest”, he concluded.
