COMO (ITALPRESS) – Como does not go beyond a 1-1 draw against Empoli in the Sinigaglia match valid for the 30th day of the 2024/2025 Serie A championship: Douvikas’ lead was answered by Kouamé’s goal.
COMMENTARY AND SCOREBOARD OF VENICE-BOLOGNA
After an initial study phase, the hosts try to pick up the pace but struggle to find clear scoring opportunities. In 20′ Goldaniga scores on the development of a corner, but the match director Mariani cancels the goal for offside. Two minutes later comes the Tuscan side’s response with Esposito putting a ball into the box for Henderson, who, however, kicks too centrally. In 27′ Goglichidze receives the ball from Kouamé and attempts a conclusion, but finds the deflection of Kempf. At 39′ it was again Roberto D’Aversa’s men who came very close to scoring the winning goal with a header by Grassi who, on Gyasi’s cross, clamorously hit the post. Two minutes from the end of the first half Kouamé attempts a shot from the edge of the area, but Butez manages to make the ball his own. It goes, therefore, to rest on the partial of 0-0.
In the second half, Como returned to the field with the right attitude and carved out a triple chance in the space of a few seconds, first with Moreno and Perrone finding opposition from the opposing defense, and then with Da Cunha missing the target by a matter of centimeters.
At 51′, bad luck comes knocking at Empoli’s door again, as they hit their second post of the day with Kouamé. Fabregas decided to change something in his lineup and at 61′ it was the newly-entered Anastasios Douvikas who put the white-blue team ahead: a cross from Vojvoda for the Greek who, one-on-one with Vasquez, did not miss and made it 1-0.
The Azzurri did not stand idly by and reacted, going in search of the equalizing goal. In the long run, the efforts of the visiting team paid off, as on 75′ Pezzella let off a perfect cross from the left for Christian Kouamé, who header beat Butez. In the final, Fabregas’ boys pushed to get back in the lead, but the Tuscans came close to hitting the jackpot on the counterattack with Kouamé, who gobbled up another goal; in the recovery, Fazzini returned to the pitch, but was sent off for a naivety: at the Sinigaglia it ended 1-1.
As a result of this result, Como consolidates 13th place by climbing to 30 points, while Empoli remains third-last at 23 points. In the next round, the Larians will be engaged in the away match at the U-Power Stadium against Monza on Saturday, April 5 at 3 p.m., while the Azzurri will be back on the pitch on Sunday, April 6 at 3 p.m. at the Castellani against Cagliari.
