Dovbyk launches Roma, seventh seal comes in Lecce

LECCE (ITALPRESS) – Even without Dybala, Roma brings home its seventh consecutive victory in Serie A. At the ‘Via del Mare’ Claudio Ranieri’s team beats Lecce 1-0 thanks to a Dovbyk goal and remains four points behind fourth place occupied by Bologna.

The Salentini’s difficult moment (fifth defeat in a row for Giampaolo’s men) weighed like a boulder on the performance of the hosts, who appeared lackluster both in the opponent’s box and in the first build-up. In 2025 Serie A Lecce and Roma are the two teams that have made more conclusions (15) following an offensive recovery. A fact confirmed by the match script at the ‘Via del Mare,’ where errors are the main source of chances for the two formations.

At 9′ Falcone mistimes his exit and runs over Guilbert, offering the 1-0 ball to Angelino who misses with his left-footed shot on an empty goal. On 21′ Lecce messed it up again: Falcone risked a short pass to Ramadani, Kone snatched it away from him but on the Frenchman’s safe shot there was the miraculous intervention of the Salento goalkeeper. At 37′ it is Lecce that makes itself dangerous: Karlsson rewards Gallo’s overlap, who gets to the shot and warms Svilar’s gloves.

The Roma extreme defender repeated himself in 44′: Kone lost the ball and triggered the restart, the task of closing down the counterattack fell to Karlsson, who kicked without conviction, favoring the Serbian’s catch. Far more dangerous in 59′ is Krstovic’s shot from midfield, which sees Svilar off the posts and attempts a surprise solution, grazing the post.

At 72′ Roma went in on goal with Mancini on the development of a Dovbyk header from a corner, but the referee annulled and Var after a very long check confirmed the field decision.

Roma’s goal for the lead was only postponed in the 80′: Dovbyk – among the worst up to that point – got rid of Baschirotto with a shoulder-to-shoulder move, entered the box and with his left-footed shot beat Falcone at the first post. Roma wasted a 2-0 ball in the 95′ through Shomurodov, but the substance did not change: Ranieri on 52 points, Giampaolo stuck at 25 in 17th position.
