Drug trafficking between Spain and Naples run by the Camorra, 33 arrests

NAPLES (ITALPRESS) – A thriving drug trade between Spain and Campania has been busted. Carabinieri from the Nucleo Investigativo in Naples, in collaboration with the Central Directorate for Anti-Drug Services and the International Police Cooperation Service, have executed in the Naples area and Spanish territory, 33 pre-trial detention orders in prison. The orders were issued by the gip of the Court of Naples at the request of the local Public Prosecutor’s Office-District Anti-Mafia Directorate. Seventeen people ended up in jail and another 16 under house arrest. The suspects must answer, for various reasons, for the crimes of criminal association aimed at drug trafficking aggravated by being composed of more than ten people, the availability of weapons and having favored the camorristic clan “Amato – Pagano,” so-called of the scissionisti, operating in the Scampia district of Naples, in the municipalities of Melito di Napoli and Mugnano di Napoli and with a logistical base in Gricignano d’Aversa, in the Caserta area. The investigation, as a whole, has allowed to unveil the existence and operation of two distinct criminal organizations, operating in the Neapolitan territory, dedicated to drug trafficking, not functionally linked to each other, but having the same channel of supply of drugs, mainly cocaine and hashish, managed in Spain by the group headed by a well-known drug trafficker still at large.- photo: screenshot from Carabinieri press office video -(ITALPRESS).
