ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Yesterday we had a second long meeting
with Commissioner Maros Sefcovic, who is in charge of the European Union’s trade policy and who has the exclusivity of the negotiation as far as the Union’s trade policies are concerned. He expressed to me his intention, which President von der Leyen then outlined to the heads of state and government in the Council, not to start a trade war, but to have a position of caution and therefore to postpone for a few weeks the decision to have measures in response to what might be the tariffs imposed by the United States on April two.” This was said by Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, speaking to reporters at the presentation of the Action Plan for Italian exports to high-potential non-EU markets today at Villa Madama.
“This time-take will serve to dialogue with the Americans themselves, it will then serve to elaborate the lists of products, which is then where the negotiation counts,” the Farnesina titular said again. “Already yesterday I reiterated to Sefcovic which products could provoke a counterreaction,” he added, finally noting, “My goal is to protect companies and be able to allow them to continue exporting, but also to internationalize.”
