ROME (ITALPRESS) – “The war of tariffs is not convenient for anyone, so I believe that in the end the Americans will try to negotiate: they already know that there will be countermeasures, but we must always be prudent and dialogue.” So says Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani to Straight and Backwards on Rete4.
“The European Union negotiates for all of us, and the Slovak commissioner is a person of common sense,” Tajani continued, “We talked at length about the duty issue, and I asked him to protect some Italian positions: for example, in the list of American goods that we import, to be sanctioned with increased duties, I asked that whiskey be excluded, because we import little of it; our reaction would be to tax Italian wines, which we export in large quantities, and a clash on this does not benefit anyone. We will have to wait two weeks to see what happens and implement an intelligent reaction; however, dialogue remains the best solution.”
