Earthquake, seismic swarms at the Aeolian Islands: two shocks of magnitude 4.6 and 4.3 felt also in Palermo

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – A series of earthquake shocks were recorded by the National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology in the area of the Aeolian Islands. A real earthquake swarm with epicenter in the sea that affected the archipelago, with over a dozen telluric movements. The most intense one recorded at 2.46 of magnitude 4.6 at a depth of 29 kilometers, with epicentre in the southern Tyrrhenian Sea. Shortly after, at 2.49, another shock of magnitude 4.3, was recorded in the same area.

These two are followed by a series of lower intensity shocks, between magnitude 2.0 and 3.0, from 1.19 to 5.48. The earthquake was clearly perceived along the coastline Messina and Palermo, although there is no damage to people or things at the moment.
