MILAN (ITALPRESS) – It is “Fatal Risks and Choices. Europe at the crossroads” is the title identified by the Advisory Board for the 20th edition of the Trento Festival of Economics, scheduled for May 22-25, 2025, organized for the fourth consecutive year by the 24 ORE Group and Trentino Marketing on behalf of the Autonomous Province of Trento and with the collaboration of the Municipality and the University of Trento.A title that reflects the major changes that the outcome of the elections in the United States will produce on the international chessboard, starting with global geopolitical and macroeconomic balances. There are numerous risks and choices that we will face and that will impact Europe: crucial issues that the Trento Festival of Economics will address with contributions from the brightest minds in economics, academia and politics nationally and internationally next May in a special edition celebrating 20 years of the event.”The U.S. elections represented a historic turning point, opening up scenarios of great change: the return of the power of states, globalization that is unlikely to reassert itself, and the development of international trade that is contracting, squeezed by the increasingly strong polarization between the United States and China,” explains the chairman of the Advisory Board and Scientific Committee of the Trento Festival of Economics Fabio Tamburini, editor of Sole 24 Ore. Europe, between lackluster economies and lack of leadership, is increasingly a crock pot between two iron vessels. Its future is tied to choices that will have to be made and that are not obvious. Then looming over these scenarios is the variable artificial intelligence, which, in addition to changing the world as we know it, brings attention to the vast amount of energy it requires and where to find it. Great changes and unknowns about risks and choices to be made because they will condition the direction in which the world will go. “With the new title, the Trento Festival of Economics continues in its commitment aimed at analyzing the challenges dictated by a world scenario characterized by high complexity and uncertainty by proposing solutions and keys to interpretation. In 2022, in fact, the theme “After the Pandemic, Between Order and Disorder” aimed to explore the profound social, economic and political effects of the pandemic, while the 2023 edition entitled “The Future of the Future. The Challenges of a New World” undertook to outline the impact that major technological and socio-economic transformations will have on humanity. In 2024 with “Quo vadis? The dilemmas of our time,” the Festival analyzed the big questions that our time poses to us, from the escalation of conflicts in the world to the rise of inflation and public debt, from climate change to demographic winter. The title of the 2025 edition of the Festival was chosen by the Advisory Board of the Trento Festival of Economics composed of Elena Beccalli, Marco Fortis, Paolo Magri, Emma Marcegaglia, Giulio Sapelli, Giulio Tremonti and Fabio Tamburini (chairman).Confirmed is the Scientific Committee composed of Professor Ericka Costa, associate professor of Business Economics at the Department of Economics and Management at the University of Trento, Professor Luigi Bonatti, professor of Economic Policy at the University of Trento, and economic historian Adriana Castagnoli, former professor of Contemporary History at the University of Turin.
