Eni and Petronas explore innovative biofuel solutions

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Eni and Petronas have undersigned a Feasibility Agreement (FA) under the Italian Grand Prix of Formula 1 2026 to evaluate the development of high-performance innovative bio-benzines from the now consolidated production process of Ecofining technology, through which Eni produces HVO biofuels from renewable raw materials since 2014.

The aim of the agreement is to verify the technical profiles, market, sustainability and the performance levels of new bio-benzine from renewable raw materials used in sports competitions and which can then be used for the development of commercial products.

This new understanding strengthens the collaboration between the two companies in the field of biofuels, in which the two companies already have a multiannual technological and industrial experience, and in support of a progressive decarbonization in the field of transport.

The study will allow the distinctive skills of the two companies to be shared; on the one hand, Eni will contribute with its consolidated experience in sustainable energy solutions and in the production, in Enilive biofuels, biofuels from renewable raw materials already commercially available, including diesel HVO and SAF-biojet, as well as with the development of innovative bio-benzine.

On the other hand, Petronas will provide its proven experience in fuel technologies, from fossil fuels to high-performance sustainable fuels for combustion engines, as well as its expertise in sustainable energy solutions and the development of advanced products.
