PARIGI (FRANCIA) (ITALPRESS) – Enterprise of Yeman Crippa: the blue triumphs at the Marathon of Paris, one of the largest in the world, with almost 60 thousand participants in the street, signing the personal primacy of 2h05’18”. Crippa is the first Italian in history to conquer the 42,195 km of the French capital, an event that a European athlete had not won for 24 years (the French Benoit Zwierzchiewski in 2002).
“My marathon career begins today – the Trentino of the Golden Flames – I finally found the right way. It was incredible, around the 33rd kilometer I realized it would be my day and when at 39th I saw that the opponents were struggling, I decided to attack. Today I ransomed from the 25th place in Paris at the Olympic Games and opens a whole new page, this morning I discovered I had a feeling with the marathon.”.
Crippa, embraced by father Roberto, coach Massimo Pegoretti and manager Gianni Demadonna immediately after the finish line, takes the lead when about five kilometers are missing inside the park Bois de Boulogne, green lung of Paris, and then the decisive attack at one and a half kilometre from the term, in a stretch in pavè in light descent, detaching the etyop Bayel Teshager (2hp05’23”).
The 29-year-old blue, always in the group of heads, constantly lucid and ready to supply (exemplar the one at 39th km), signs a passage to the half in 1h03’14” and then marks a negative split in the second half part of 1h02’04”, shakes the ‘ ghosts’ of many of the previous marathons, when he was encapsulated in physical or head crisis after the thirty kilometer.
For Crippa is the second Italian performance ever, behind the record of Iliass Aouani of 1 March in Tokyo (2h04’26”) and a personal improvement after two years compared to the 2h06’06” of Seville in February 2024.
Among the women, double Ethiopian: Shure Demise was set in 2h18’34”, record of the race, in front of the compatriot Misgane Alemayehu (+34′′). Third place for the Kenyan Magdalyne Masa.
