EU, Borrell “Strategic partnership with Morocco has immense value”

LUXEMBOURG (ITALPRESS) – EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, reaffirmed the “immense value” the EU places on its strategic partnership with Morocco. “The 27 wish to deepen the partnership linking Morocco and the EU, which is a long-term, very dense and deep partnership,” said the EU High Representative, who presented, at a press conference, the conclusions of the EU Foreign Affairs Council held in Luxembourg.
“We have established friendly relations and articulate cooperation with Morocco, and we wish to continue and strengthen them in the months ahead,” he assured, adding that the EU foreign ministers took note of the EU Court of Justice rulings on the EU-Morocco agricultural and fisheries agreements.
The EU diplomacy chief reiterated in this regard the content of the joint statement, with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reaffirming the European bloc’s commitment to preserve and further strengthen close relations with Morocco in all areas, according to the principle “pacta sunt servanda.”
