EU, Meloni “Must take care of fewer things and do them better”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Precisely because I want a stronger Europe, I think the problem has been that it has not been clearer about its mission and thought it could replace the lack of clarity with more regulation. I am not alone in saying that this problem exists. The EU has to deal with fewer things and it has to do them better, it has to deal with matters where individual states cannot do it on their own.” So said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during replies in the Senate ahead of the European Council meeting. On the automotive paper “I am satisfied and optimistic because there are already many countries that are following us. We must continue to work on it with pragmatism and seriousness. I think we can agree because this is about defending a fundamental supply chain, this is the approach that Europe must have,” he added.
On the so-called European green deal and the goal of zero climate impact by 2050, the premier then stressed that “none of us deny that there is an issue related to the climate emergency, no one questions the EU’s ambitious goals, we challenge the strategy with which the EU has felt it must achieve those goals, it is a strategy dictated by an overly ideological approach that risks pursuing sustainability at the price of deindustrialization,” she concluded.
