Euromedia, for 40% of Italians peace in Ukraine closer

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Negotiations between the United States and Russia have been going on for several weeks, and after meetings in Riyadh, the first points and conditions for reaching a cease-fire agreement have been drawn up.

In the meantime, however, while possible solutions are being discussed, the war is going on and there are new attacks from both sides. A complex scenario, then, that has been going on for more than 3 years now. Despite this context, however, a sense of optimism prevails among the Italian population.

According to a Euromedia Research poll, just over 40 percent of citizens, in fact, believe that Russia and Ukraine are closer to a peace agreement and conflict resolution after the latest meetings and talks that took place between Trump and Putin in particular.

The path of negotiations and diplomatic agreements, therefore, seems to be the right one to achieve a cease-fire. More than 60 percent of the Italian population is of this opinion. Solutions such as the economic sanctions used in the past, military support for Ukraine requested several times by Zelensky or getting to direct intervention by other countries are, on the other hand, solutions considered less effective in finally achieving peace.

The Euromedia Research survey was conducted on March 21, 2025 using CATI/CAWI methodology on a sample of 1,000 cases representative of the Italian population aged 18 and over.
