F1, Gianpiero Lambiase will leave Red Bull in 2028: Max Verstappen’s engineer will go to McLaren

LONDRA (INGHILTERRA) (ITALPRESS) – Gianpiero Lambiase, historical track engineer of Max Verstappen, will leave Red Bull. It is the same stable to confirm the farewell of the 45-year-old Italian-English in 2028, “at the expiration of his current contract. GP is a valuable member of the team, to which he joined in 2015. Until its scheduled start, GP will continue in its role as manager of Max Verstappen race operations and track engineer, and we are fully committed to adding further successes to our solid path together.”.

Lambiase, who had recently declined his team principal position at Aston Martin, followed Verstappen since his arrival in Red Bull in 2016, helping Dutchman win 4 World Championships.

According to the English media, in his future there would be McLaren where he should become responsible for track engineering with Andrea Stella confirmed as the main team. His farewell to Red Bull could have repercussions on the future of Verstappen himself, who in the past had talked about withdrawing from F1 if Lambiase was no longer his track engineer.
