F1, Red Bull apologizes to Kimi Antonelli: “Comments clearly wrong”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “The comments made before and immediately after the end of the Qatar Gp, about the Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli who would deliberately let Lando Norris pass, are clearly wrong.” With this note the Red Bull puts an end to the controversy that emerged yesterday and became today viral on the web. From the phrases of Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s special advisor, it was evident that the Bologna driver had let Lando Norris pass on to the penultimate round of the Qatar Grand Prix.

A surprise thanks to which the British closed the race in fourth place, thus earning two points on Max Verstappen in the fight for the title iridato. Marko clearly blamed Mercedes driver on Motorsport.com, stating: “It’s quite obvious that he let Lando pass (Norris, ndr.)”. A phrase he had sent on all the furies Toto Wolff, executive director of Mercedes F1, who answered saying: “It’s completely absurd.”.

Today the Red Bull note, where you still read: “The shooting shows that Antonelli temporarily lost control of his car, allowing Norris to overtake it. I sincerely regret that this led Kimi to be the victim of online harassment.” A clarification with excuses, therefore, not only for the words of Marko but also for the “many” received via the web from the Mercedes driver.
