ROME (ITALPRESS) – Andrea Facci was elected as the new president of Federginnastica with 98.70 percent of the vote in favor (4,620 votes in favor, 61 blank ballots) during the elective assembly at the Hilton Rome Airport Hotel in Fiumicino. “I thank everyone present,” his first words, “I can only tell you that we will do everything to implement what I said. I will try my best, I am extremely optimistic.” For Facci, who succeeds Gherardo Tecchi, “we need to be facilitators of gymnastics and not create complications that have been there in recent periods. It starts with trying to help the societies: the federation is the set of societies, so if we help the societies we also help the federation. It is a wonderful day, very well attended, which I am very proud of and which is good for our movement. To see such well attended assemblies is a sign of vitality and positivity for the whole movement.” Handing over the baton, as mentioned, is the now former president Tecchi. “2024 was a resounding year, where we won everything possible,” he recalled, “I thank Sport and Health, which is an added value for the promotion of sport in a country threatened by sedentariness and eating disorders. The federation was among the first to start a department on social issues with a strong focus on sustainability. This was recognized by Sport and Health, rewarding our achievements with 15 percent more contributions. I leave a healthy federation, with an enviable palmares and accounts in order, and hand it over to Andrea Facci.” From Tecchi also nice words for Malagò: “I would have made him lead Coni for life. Giovanni has been the best, second only to Giulio Onesti. He defended the sport from undue meddling and always put athletes at the center of the project.
