PIOMBINO (ITALPRESS) – Mourners in the world of soccer: Aldo Agroppi, former player of Torino and Perugia and later coach of, among others, the same Umbrian team and Fiorentina, has died at the age of 80. He had been hospitalized in Piombino, his hometown, for a few days and the death occurred in the early hours of today. The body will be taken in the coming hours to the farewell room of the Piombino Public Assistance.Midfielder born in 1944, in the early 1960s Agroppi entered the granata youth academy and then became a permanent member of the first team since 1967, after some experiences on loan: more than 200 appearances until 1975 and two Italian Cups in his palmares. He lived the last years of his career at Perugia, where he also began to take his first steps as a coach. He would also lead Pescara, Pisa (which he took to Serie A), Padova, Perugia again and, in the 1985-86 season, Fiorentina in the top league, an experience, however, marked by an attack by purple ultras. Involved in the Toto nero-bis investigation that will cost him a 4-month disqualification, he will then coach Como and Ascoli without success, before returning to Florence in 1993: it will be his last experience as a coach, ended with his exoneration a few days from the end and that will not manage to prevent the Viola from relegation to B.- photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
