Federfarma, Pharmacy Convention improves outreach health care

ROME (ITALPRESS) – The Pharmaceutical Convention approved yesterday by the State-Regions Conference gives full implementation to the service pharmacy, with clear and uniform rules, strengthening proximity health care, paying special attention to the health needs of the elderly, chronically ill and frail people. For citizens, the Convention plays a crucial role because it ensures easy and equitable access to medicines prescribed by the National Health Service throughout the country, including rural or peripheral areas; it guarantees therapeutic continuity, thanks to the professional support of the pharmacist who verifies adherence and correct use of therapies; offers outreach care by providing for and regulating the provision of telemedicine services, testing with capillary blood sampling, administration of vaccines, booking activities for outpatient specialist care services, and activities for participation and collaboration in preventive medicine programs, information and health education.

Federfarma therefore notes with surprise the Anaao-Assomed, Fnob, Federlab, Fismelab and Amcli press releases for the considerations contained therein, which are evidently the result of a misunderstanding or a non-integral reading of the provisions of the new Convention. It is necessary, first of all, to reiterate that no diagnostic activity is reserved for the pharmacist, nor is it assigned to the same by the Pharmaceutical Convention.

As Federfarma reiterates, it is, instead, intended to punctually regulate the pharmacist’s activities established by the regulatory provisions and ministerial guidelines that govern the matter. The measures most recently approved by the State-Regions Conference do not in any way contradict the sector regulations, and indeed have the merit of specifying and detailing the procedural stages of the performance of tests and the logistical requirements to be observed in order to perform the services, to the benefit, therefore, of the protection of the citizen’s health. Federfarma renews its dutiful thanks to the Meloni government, in particular to Health Minister Orazio Schillaci and Undersecretary Marcello Gemmato, to the President of the State-Regions Conference Massimiliano Fedriga, and to the President of the Regions-Health Sector Committee Marco Alparone, who evidently believed and believe in the role of pharmacies as proximity health garrisons, an integral part of the National Health Service, operating for the benefit of the community.
