Federturismo “Analisi Confindustria confirms that sector supports national GDP”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – According to the latest analysis of the Centro Studi di Confindustria, tourism is confirmed in 2025 one of the main engines of Italian economic growth, in a general context in which some productive sectors record signs of slowing down. The figures show a significant growth in foreign travel spending in Italy, which will reach €57 billion, with an estimated active tourist balance of €23 billion, contributing decisively to the balance of payments. Despite a slight contraction in the total number of arrivals, the figure of the tourist presences – measured in nights spent – marks a new historical maximum with 476 million attendances, result made possible by the increase of the average stay of visitors. “The updated photograph of Italian tourism confirms what we have long supported: tourism is not only a sector linked to leisure, but a fundamental economic component – said Marina Lalli, President of Federturismo -. In an economic context in which some sectoral dynamics appear more limited, tourism continues to generate value, supporting international demand and consolidating Italy’s attraction as a global destination.” The international component remains the main engine of this performance: the expenditure of foreign visitors continues to grow, supported by quality flows and an increase in average stay, elements that amplify the economic impact on the country system. According to the projections of the statistical bodies, Italy is one of the most attractive destinations in Europe, with a competitive position compared to the main continental markets. “We express great satisfaction for the results achieved, the result of the synergy between enterprises and institutions that, even in a complex context, have been able to better value the potential of the sector – continued President Lalli -. The question is, the numbers confirm it, but we must continue to strengthen the quality of the offer and to promote the Italian tourist experience, from culture to nature, from the cities of art to the less known territories”. The relationship between tourism, GDP and employment remains central to the national economy. The attraction of the main Italian destinations – from great cities of art to lakes, from coasts to internal areas – continues to generate positive effects on the induced, consolidating tourism as a structural lever of development. “To continue to count on this growth engine – Lalli concluded – it is necessary to invest in forward-looking strategies that focus on sustainability, innovation and the ability to evolve the offer, so that tourism remains a pillar of the recovery and prosperity of the country.” (ITALPRESS).
