Ferrari in China, Vasseur “We want to turn over a new leaf immediately”

MARANELLO (MODENA) (ITALPRESS) – After a certainly not exciting debut, Ferrari nonetheless restarts with enthusiasm ahead of the second Gp of the season. Appointment in China for the first Sprint weekend of the championship. It had also been the case in 2024, when the circus returned to the Shanghai International Circuit after a four-season stop due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Sprint program will feature a single 60-minute free practice session on Friday (at 11:30 a.m. local time, 4:30 a.m. in Italy), followed by Sprint Qualifying at 3 p.m. (8). As per the format adopted last year, Saturday will see the Sprint race at 11 a.m. (4) as the first course on the menu, which will be followed by the reopening of the parc fermé to prepare for the 3 p.m. (8 a.m.) qualifying. The race is scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m. (8 a.m. Italian time) over the distance of 56 laps, or 305 kilometers. For Ferrari, after Chalres Leclerc’s 8th place and Lewis Hamilton’s 10th in Melbourne, it is already time for redemption.

“We are happy to be back on track right away, less than a week after the Australian Grand Prix, because the Shanghai race offers us the chance to turn the page immediately,” explained Maranello’s team principal, Frederic Vasseur. “The Chinese track has completely different characteristics from that of Albert Park and this leg, thanks to the fact that it includes the first Sprint weekend of the season, puts even more points up for grabs. From a technical point of view, it will be important to have prepared well for the weekend at the simulator in Maranello since, as usual, we will only have one hour of free practice available, which will have to be used at least in part to get familiar with the completely new asphalt in Shanghai. As a team we will take care of every little detail to maximize the potential of the SF-25s while supporting Charles and Lewis, who has always liked this track, in the best way possible.”
