ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “2025 represented a year of consolidation and acceleration for Italian and European innovation”. Gabriele Ferrieri, President ANGI (National Association of Young Innovators). “We have seen a significant increase in investments in research and development, with particular emphasis on digital and green transition. The Transition Plan 5.0 offered tax credits up to 45% for projects that reduce energy consumption, stimulating enterprises and startups to invest in instrumental assets 4.0 and sustainable technologies. In Europe, attention to competitiveness and technological sovereignty has opened favourable scenarios, with Italy positioning itself as a key player in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and ecological transition. Public-private synergies have attracted crucial resources, supporting innovative SMEs and startups in overcoming global challenges.”
Looking at the prospects for 2026, Ferrieri highlights strategic opportunities and priorities: “The 2026 will mark the stage of maturity of the PNRR, with Italy that has already reached results higher than the European average: more than 101 billion euros spent on November 2025, with projections to 110 billion by the end of the year, and the delivery of successive installments that will lead to approximately 153 billion received.
Particular attention deserves the sector of defence and national security, where technological innovation – from AI to cybersecurity – will become a pillar for resilience.
Artificial intelligence will be drivers of economic, social and industrial growth, while research and development will receive further impulses to reduce the gap with EU partners. We commend the government’s commitment led by President Giorgia Meloni, who demonstrated strategic vision and determination in the implementation of the PNRR, overcoming objectives and enhancing measures such as Transition 5.0 for green and digital investments. A recognition goes also to the legacy of Mario Draghi, who designed an ambitious Plan, making today Italy more resilient and competitive on the international level”.
In conclusion, Ferrieri calls on young innovators: “As a spokesman for under 40 generations, we recommend the country to step up investments on youth talents, simplifying access to funds for research, startups and training in IA and cybersecurity. It is essential to promote policies that promote young entrepreneurship, meritocracy and open innovation, integrating ethics and sustainability. Italy has all the potential to emerge as a European leader: we place young people at the center of change, we govern the digital revolution with courage and vision, and we continue to build a future of prosperity, technological sovereignty and inclusion. ANGI is alongside institutions, businesses and stakeholders to translate this vision into concrete actions.”
Among the most significant achievements of 2025, we read in a note, stand out “the 8th edition of the ANGI Award – Oscar of Innovation, held on December 3 at the Temple Hall of Vibia Sabina and Adriano of the Chamber of Commerce of Rome, which celebrated the Italian excellence in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, agritech and sustainability; the fourth edition of the AI & VR Festival Multiverse World in Turin, which has transformed the National Cinema Museum into an international hub for immersive technologies; the 5th edition of the Innovation Cybersecurity Summit, which focused on the Gotha of the World of Defense and Armed Forces in the prestigious setting of Palazzo Simonetti Odescalchi in Rome until the 4th edition of the Young Innovators Business Forum on the Digital Economy with the major players in the business world at the Meet Digital Culture Center in Milan.
As well as numerous conferences and technical tables, including those on national security and digital transformation, with the patronage of European Parliament, Parliamentary Intergroups and principalthe ministries.”
