ROME (ITALPRESS) – Fedeginnastica cuts ties with the past and looks to the future with energy and positivity. The Federal Governing Council, which met this morning in the second session of President Andrea Facci’s new course, decided on the early termination of the contract of Emanuela Maccarani, at the center of the notorious events that see her accused of abuse and mistreatment of some athletes.
This means that in addition to being removed from her role as technical director of rhythmic gymnastics, she will no longer be able to join the academy in Desio. “We felt that the cycle was over. Now we are moving forward, producing new projects, evaluating the possibility of growing even more, maybe in a different way,” explains Facci, who took over the leadership of rhythmic gymnastics on an interim basis until June 30. All technical guides, except precisely that of rhythmics, “have been postponed until June 30 in order to allow the revisiting of the budget of the federal structure and to be able to make, then, the new budget.”
In addition, Franco Mantero and Fabrizia D’Ottavio were appointed vice presidents. Resolutions taken by the Cf also include the start, within 30 days, of the procedure to select a new federal prosecutor, after the previous one, Michele Rossetti, was removed for wiretaps in which he insulted the female athletes who had accused Maccarani.
The other important novelty concerns the Italian championship: “From 2026 we will make a big effort and try to organize the top events by creating a unified framework,” Facci announced. “Today the organization is delegated to individual clubs with different performances, we would like to put ourselves in the forefront to raise the level. We are fielding ideas that we will develop.” From the point of view of sports results, “the first year after the Olympics is very interlocutory, a transition year where there is no pressure of results and we know we have to be close to coaches and athletes to start a new path together.”
Facci, who wanted to emphasize once again the young age of the Federal Council and the high number of ‘pink quotas’ (“I don’t like this concept, but in a context like sports it is a turnaround that we all need to undertake,” the president explained), also reiterated the need to “make clubs feel part of a deep project. They need our support and that is why we are implementing our presence. We need gyms and equipment because we have more complex logistical situations than other sports,” he concluded, “One of the points we are working on is federal facilities: we are having a series of interlocutions with public administrations on this.
