Fiat Grande Panda debuts in hybrid and electric versions

TURIN (ITALPRESS) After its unveiling last July, the new Fiat Grande Panda is finally available for orders and will arrive in Italian dealerships starting in March 2025. “The challenge of returning to the B segment,” says Alessio Scutari, Fiat and Abarth Managing Director Italy, “was extraordinarily important. It is the most important segment for Italy but also one of the most important for Europe. We decided to tackle it by drawing inspiration from the past but looking to the future by interpreting the needs of today’s consumer to have a compact but spacious, functional car that can meet everyone’s needs and with very efficient modern engines that allow them to cope with all types of travel.” The newcomer from Stellantis has two available powertrains: hybrid and electric. The hybrid version features a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder, 100-hp turbocharged engine, a 48-volt Li-ion battery pack, and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (eDCT), which includes the 21-kW electric motor, inverter, and central transmission unit.
With these features, the parent company ensures lower fuel consumption and fewer emissions. The electric version, on the other hand, is supported by a 44 kWh battery and an 83 kW (113 hp) electric motor, offering a range of 320 km in the combined WLTP cycle. The electric Grande Panda reaches a top speed of 132 km/h (132 mph) and accelerates from 0 to 50 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds. The new global model has a standard DC fast charging port that offers 100 kW charging power, completing a charge in 27 minutes. It also has another 7 kW AC charging cable integrated and retractable at the front by opening the flap at the Fiat logo. Designed at the Turin Style Center, the Grande Panda is the first Fiat developed on the Stellantis “Smart Car Platform” and is intended to recall some elements of the historic 1980s model. Dimensions are compact with a length of 3.99 meters, below the segment average, a height of 1.57 meters and a width of 1.76 meters, excluding mirrors.
Design highlights are the 3D embossed Panda name lettering on the doors and the X-shapes of both front and rear headlights also taken up by the 17-inch diamond alloy wheels with Fiat logo hubcaps. The seven colors available are Lemon Yellow, Moon Bronze, Water Blue, Lake Blue, Passion Red, Cinema Black, and Ice Cream White. The interior allows seating for 5 people, and the trunk has a capacity of 412 liters (361 liters for the electric version). The 10″ dashboard and 10.25″ digital radio recall the shape of the Lingotto’s runway. There are three versions of the Grande Panda hybrid: the “Pop” which is the basic version, the “Icon” and “La Prima” which offers full equipment. Prices start at 16,950 euros for the “Pop” version on launch offer, compared with a list price of 18,900 euros. The electric version, on the other hand, has two equipment options: the fully equipped “La Prima” and the “RED” on launch offer at 22,950 euros, against a list price of 24,900 euros.
