NAPOLI (ITALPRESS) – FiberCop and the University of Naples Federico II have launched a strategic collaboration dedicated to the development of research and training activities on the innovation of telecommunications networks. In particular, the joint research programme initiated with the Advanced Metrological and Tecnologic Services Centre (CeSMA) of the Federico II University will aim to create innovative solutions to make telecommunications networks increasingly intelligent, efficient and sustainable. The collaboration with the University will also include training initiatives dedicated to the development of advanced skills in the main areas of innovation for new generation networks.
Massimo Sarmi, Chairman and CEO of FiberCop, said: “The evolution of digital infrastructure requires close collaboration between enterprises, research and training. With the Federico II University, we make common scientific and industrial skills to explore technologies that play a central role in the networks of the future. The collaboration with the Italian university system strengthens the contribution of FiberCop to the technological development of the country and to the formation of the skills necessary to guide the digital transformation”.
The initiative is part of the evolution of digital infrastructure towards increasingly automated models and capable of managing complex technological scenarios. Research activities will focus on the definition of advanced digital models of “Digital Twin” that can integrate fiber optic networks, cloud infrastructure and edge cloud, 5G mobile networks and future generation 6G, quantum communication systems and cybersecurity components.
Thanks to these models it will be possible to create a virtual and dynamic representation of the physical infrastructure, useful to analyze its operation, foresee its evolution and optimize its management. The integration of artificial intelligence technologies, advanced simulation tools and automated orchestration systems will optimize resource use, automate network operations and accelerate the introduction of new digital services, also contributing to the development of reference technological standards.
Domenico Accardo, director of the Centro Servizi Metrologici e Tecnologici Advanced CeSMA of the Federico II University of Naples said: “CeSMA welcomes with great satisfaction the start of the research agreement with FiberCop, coordinated by Professor Antonia Maria Tulino. Research focuses on particularly significant and advanced activities such as multi-domain operations and quantum technologies. These will allow you to develop innovative solutions of advanced connectivity and new wholesale services useful to increase the field of application and safety of fiber communications. The task is an important recognition of the competences gained by the Centre and its constant commitment in the many activities developed in the domain of digital communications”.
The activities will involve teachers, researchers and specialists of the Federico II University and CeSMA, putting together multidisciplinary skills in the fields of telecommunications, artificial intelligence, distributed systems engineering, applied electromagnetism and quantum technologies. Through this initiative, FiberCop and the Federico II University confirm their commitment to promoting research, technological transfer and development of advanced skills, in support of the digital transformation of telecommunications infrastructure, the evolution of services of the future and the growth of the national ecosystem of innovation.
