ROME (ITALPRESS) – The elective assembly of the Italian Federation of American Football has confirmed Leoluca Orlando as president for the next four-year term. The Fidaf assembly was attended by 33 member companies, as well as 18 delegates, with a quorum of 76.1 percent. Throughout the day, delegates cast their votes for amendments to some articles of association, unanimously approving the new bylaws, and for the appointment of the federal president and federal council. Orlando, in his fifth consecutive term, will lead the Federation until 2028. “This concludes a four-year Olympic period that has profoundly changed the quality and authority of football in Italy and of Italian football in the international context. Today we can record important achievements in the national and international field: the significant diffusion of tackle and flag also in the youth world, the consecration of flag as an Olympic discipline with its debut in 2028 in Los Angeles, and the longed-for recognition as a National Sports Federation, which guarantees us the right to participate in the governance of Coni. Mission accomplished, then, but not completed. Together with the newly elected federal directors, we will have to carry on the work and complete efficiency, credibility, competitive results in Italy and internationally, spread our disciplines in the youth and school world, strengthen internal and external communication, and launch the Paralympic flag sector. So we have ambitious projects and, thanks to the new configuration, we count on being able to carry them out with the collaboration of the Minister for Sport and Youth, Sport and Health and the Coni,” Orlando’s paroels after the election.
