Fiorentina-Como 0-2, Diao and Nico Paz decide at the Franchi.

FLORENCE (ITALPRESS) – Como expurgated the Franchi stadium in Florence, beating Fiorentina two to zero and winning three very important points in the salvation race. Deciding goals by Diao and Nico Paz punished the purple team in one of its worst home performances. For the Tuscans it was also a heavy setback to their European ambitions. Como found the goal of one-nil in the final part of the first half when on the development of a free kick in the host’s three-quarter badly exploited by the hosts, Diao served by Caqueret flew towards De Gea jumping at speed over Ranieri and Cataldi, beating the former Manchester United goalkeeper. The Larian goal was a bonus to an opening fraction that saw the Viola start better but as the minutes passed was characterized by a white-blue formation excellently laid out on the field. Without Kean disqualified, Palladino relies on Zaniolo as a false nueve but except for a couple of chances by the former product of the Gigliato youth sector, the choice does not pay off, also because Fagioli trequartista is avulsed from the game and the Beltran-Folorunsho pair collects a lot of errors in support. Conversely, Diao is a thorn in the side for Dodo and teammates and only a decisive double intervention by Pongracic at 28′ had prevented Fiorentina from capitulating earlier. Zaniolo’s choice does not pay off and so at 55′ Palladino replaces him with Gudmundsson, also inserting Colpani and bringing Fagioli back in the midfield line in place of Cataldi. A shakeup of the lily-colored players was expected, but instead came the doubling midway through the second half with a marvelous conclusion by Nico Paz after a serious mistake by one of the newcomers himself, Colpani. A prodigious intervention by De Gea prevented the three-all at 77′ on Diao’s conclusion. Shortly afterwards Gudmunsson exited due to back problems and Ndour made his debut. The end of the match saw the guests in control and with even a bit of stonewalling to let the minutes go by, the match came to a close, with the Franchi booing their favorites, while for Fabregas’ group only lots of applause.
