MIAMI (UNITED STATES) (ITALPRESS) – Matteo Berrettini signed his first victory at the Miami Open, the second Masters 1000 of the season. The Roman, world number 30, defeated Hugo Gaston for the third time in three straight matches, beating him 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Berrettini completed the match with 33 winners to the Frenchman’s 19, and 31 frees to 24. In the third round he will play for the first time against Belgian Zizou Bergs, No. 51, who eliminated Andrey Rublev 7-5, 6-4 and lengthened the list of Top 10 players already out of the tournament that includes Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and Jack Draper, among others.
Alex De Minaur advances without particular difficulty to the third round of the “Miami Open.” The Australian, number 10 seed, eliminates with a double 6-4 the Chinese Yunchaokete Bu. Also ahead is American Frances Tiafoe, 7-5, 7-6(5) to Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, while Alex Fils takes advantage of a withdrawal during the second set of Gabriel Dallo to get through the round.
