ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Israeli sources reported to the CBS News that Israel was ready to break the Flydubai flight 1073 – with all passengers on board – after the Omanita copilot attacked the commander. After the first information on the emergency on board, hunting had been taken off, then recalled when the plane started the emergency landing manoeuvre in Saudi Arabia, add sources.
According to the sources cited by CBS News, as part of the planned protocol for potential accidents similar to those of September 11, the Israeli Air Force attempted to contact the cockpit after a sharp drop in the plane’s share, but without receiving an answer. A specially formed committee was then convened and set up a command center; at the same time the hunting took off and Israel closed its air space.
However, the military aircraft were recalled once learned that the plane was heading towards Saudi Arabia, a country that had in turn taken off its own fighters. Sources add that, if the flight approached further, Israel would send planes into the Jordanian airspace to carry out checks.
After checking the plane, the Air Force would update the committee which, according to the sources, would in turn contact the Minister of Defense and the Prime Minister if a hijacking had been confirmed.
Ultimately, the decision to break down the plane would be for the premier, a possibility that, according to the sources quoted by CBS News, would be preferable compared to a possible crash against Ben Gurion airport, the Azrieli Center in Tel Aviv or another “sensitive goal”.
