Flood death toll in Spain worsens

The death toll from flooding in Spain is worsening. According to the latest update released by the Valencian Community’s emergency services, there are 202 confirmed victims, but authorities have warned that the number is set to worsen further as the number of missing people has also increased. Meanwhile, the situation for mobility is quite complicated, as at least 80 km of the road network is blown up. The highway linking Valencia with Madrid is not serviceable. More than 50,000 volunteers have arrived in Valencia, but authorities are urging rescuers to stop the influx as roads are partly impassable and the risk is to clog traffic. An orange alert has been issued while new heavy rains have also hit the Balearic Islands and the part bordering Portugal, although the situation is under control.
