ROME (ITALPRESS) – The Italy Village in Abu Dhabi received a visit from Speaker Lorenzo Fontana who was welcomed by Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, Undersecretary of Defense Isabella Rauti, Italian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Lorenzo Fanara, Commander in Chief of the Naval Squadron, Admiral Aurelio De Carolis, and Luca Andreoli Ceo of Difesa Servizi, the in-house company of the Ministry of Defense that implements and supports all phases of the initiative.President Fontana, together with Capt. Giuseppe Lai, Commander of Nave Amerigo Vespucci, and all the authorities present, met with the crew and took part in the Sunday Holy Mass on the quarterdeck of the Navy Training Ship celebrated by shipboard chaplain Don Mauro Medaglini. Accompanied by Luca Andreoli, he then visited the Italian Village: the Italia Geniale exhibition, the pavilion dedicated to the artist Jago, the Anima Italia area dedicated to food excellence curated by MASAF and, finally, the Italian Kitchen Garden. “Nave Amerigo Vespucci and the Italian Village are bringing the symbols of Made in Italy to the world. The reception it receives in every port makes us understand the international appreciation for our country. From this can come a new awareness of the value of Italy, which we have a duty to preserve, hand down and promote. A pride and a responsibility that we have to share,” said President Fontana, who added – “The beauty of the ship and its organization leave one speechless. I am here to thank every single member of the crew for the contribution they are making. The men and women of the Vespucci carry Italy in their hearts, transmitting this passion to all the peoples they meet. “The one in Abu Dhabi is the 7th Italy Village, as part of the World Tour of Nave Amerigo Vespucci, ambassador of Made in Italy in the world, now in its 31st stage and for the first time in the United Arab Emirates together with the “World Itinerant Multi-Year Exhibition” of Italian excellence to which 11 Ministries adhere, with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. With this stage, the Vespucci passed 42 thousand nautical miles, which is twice the length of the equator.
