For Sinner 31 weeks as No. 1 Atp

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Jannik Sinner reaches 31 consecutive weeks as world No. 1. In the first Atp ranking of 2025, the South Tyrolean champion – who in a few days will be called upon to defend his title at the Australian Open – looks down on everything with 11,830 points, more than 4,000 more than world No. 2, Germany’s Alexander Zverev. In third place is confirmed Carlos Alcaraz, who precedes Taylor Fritz, Daniil Medvedev, Casper Ruud and Novak Djokovic, then the only new entry in the Top Ten with Alex De Minaur, who bypasses Andrey Rublev in eighth place. Tenth remains Grigor Dimitrov. Sinner is 17th in total weeks at the top of the ranking, but the figure that stands out is another. Only seven players, after becoming Atp No. 1 for the first time in their careers, have recorded a longer first period at the top of the ranking than Jannik: Roger Federer (237 weeks), Jimmy Connors (160), Lleyton Hewitt (75), Novak Djokovic (53), Rafa Nadal (46), Andy Murray (41) and Ilie Nastase (40). That leaves nine Italians in the top 100 in the world, and they are all players directly admitted to the main draw at the Australian Open. Behind Sinner are Lorenzo Musetti (16), who gains one position and approaches the best ranking of No. 15; Flavio Cobolli (32), Matteo Berrettini (35, -1), Matteo Arnaldi (38, -1), Luciano Darderi (44), Lorenzo Sonego (54, -1), Fabio Fognini (89, +2) and Luca Nardi (90, +2). At the gates of the Top 100 knock Mattia Bellucci (101, +2) and Francesco Passaro (105, +3, best ranking).
