Frana in Niscemi, a three-storey building collapses in the precipice. A study commission

NISCEMI (CALTANISSETTA) (ITALPRESS) – New collapses in Niscemi, in the niche, where it rains for 48 consecutive hours. A three-storey building in the Sante Croci district ended in the precipice, which has already swallowed other houses. The collapsed building was a few meters from the image symbol of the car that was suspended on the edge of the precipice.

COSTITUITA COMMISSIONE DI STUDIO

The Minister for Civil Protection and the Policies of the Sea, Nello Musumeci, has signed the decree of constitution of a Commission of study with the task, among other things, “to deepen the causes and evolution of the franous movement that affects the municipal territory of Niscemi, the speed of its movement and the conditions of residual risk”. They also want to propose, for the post-emergency, “the interventions of prevention and mitigation of the risk from franous movement” of the territory niscemese. The study commission, reads in a note, “will also collect information and conduct investigations on Italian and foreign projects, experiences and experiments, as well as carry out every useful activity to the pursuit of its purposes”.

The Commission is chaired by Enrico Foti, rector of the University of Catania, and composed of: Fausto Guzzetti, Academic of the Linces, Mauro Scaccianoce, president of the National Assembly of the Presidents of the Provincial Orders of the Engineers, Roberto Troncarelli, president of the National Council of Geologists, Giuseppe Sappa, professor of Applied Geology – University of Rome La Sapienza. The study commission will have a month to finish its work and will be able to avail itself of the collaboration of the National Department of Civil Protection and the Department of Home Italy. The components “are not compensated, tokens of presence or other emoluments”.
