ROMA (ITALPRESS) – French football in mourning. He died this morning, at the age of 72, Jean-Louis Gasset, a former midfielder who spent almost all of his career at Montpellier, a club he then coached first as vice. D

After being the technical owner of Caen and Istres, in 2007 he began his collaboration with Laurent Blanc in the role of coach in second place. In 2010 he was his deputy in France who took part in the 2012 European Championship, reaching the quarterfinals. From 2013 to 2016 he was second coach of the Paris Saint-Germain.

In 2022 it was ct of the Ivory Coast succeeding Patrice Beaumelle. In February 2024, he replaced Gennaro Gattuso on the Olympique Marseille bench, at that time 9° in Ligue 1, finishing the season at 7th place in the league, while in Europa League the French team was eliminated by the Atalanta in the semifinals. He finished his career returning to Montpellier, last in Ligue 1 2024-2025, failing to avoid the relegation in Ligue 2, solving his contract on 7 April.
