From Treccani the geopolitical Atlas 2025, a compass to orientate itself in the “New (dis) world order”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The protracting of conflicts in different areas of the planet, economic tensions, struggles for technological and commercial primacy and the redefinition of strategic alliances deeply affect the relations of strength and the dynamics of power between States. The geopolitical Atlas 2025, just published by the Istituto della Enciclopedia Italiana Treccani with the scientific direction of Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi, offers an updated and rigorous reading of the geopolitical, economic and social dynamics that are putting in crisis the consolidated assets and redesigning international balances.

In 2025 the global geopolitical landscape returns the image of an international system marked by a deep discontinuity, in which disorder is no longer a transitional phase but a structural condition.

“The world was marked in 2025 by a silent but deep concealment – says Ambassador Sequi –, he stopped looking for an order and still does not live with disorder. We live in a hybrid regime, in which partial orders, divergent interests and spheres of influence overlap without resorting to a common balance.”.

A context in which the competition between the United States, China and Russia, the war in Ukraine, the crisis in the Middle East, the tensions on supply chains and the technological primacy redefine the coordinates of global security, while Europe struggles to translate its normative force into a real capacity of action and international organizations operate in an increasingly fragmented system.

According to Massimo Bray, Director General of the Istituto della Enciclopedia Italiana Treccani, “in a scenario of increasing economic, political and social instability, the Atlante geopolitico Treccani 2025 intends to offer readers a clear and up-to-date picture of the current geopolitical context, in the belief that only through a critical and informed look on the present it is possible to build a more aware and inclusive vision, inspired by the values of peace and solidarity”.

The Treccani 2025 geopolitical Atlas contains, in 808 pages, analyses and insights into the new geometries of global power: from technological hegemony to major international security issues, from energy policies to environmental and nuclear threats, from migratory crises to human rights protection.

The 197 tabs on states, updated in content and enriched by georeferential maps and thematic maps, analyze the latest internal political developments, international relations, alliance networks and social and demographic dynamics. They complete the work 5 introductory essays, 68 tabs on international organizations, 343 charts and thematic cards, 76 indicators and a rich Appendix of data, for a comparative reading of the current changes.
