Fuels, Cna “The increase in prices is putting Italian companies on their knees”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “The continuous surge in fuel prices is putting on knee the Italian companies operating in the transport sector people. The sector, already proven by the challenges of recent years, is now facing an unsustainable emergency that threatens the operational stability of enterprises and, consequently, the guarantee of the right to mobility for citizens, students and tourists”. Cna says so in a note. “The dizzying increase in pump costs, combined with the volatility of energy markets, is no longer an absorbable factor from corporate margins – continues the category association –. For transport companies, fuel represents a primary and incomprehensible cost item. Without structural and immediate interventions by the Government, the concrete risk is the reduction of services, the increase of the rates for the final user and, in more critical cases, the cessation of the activities of many local operators”.

“People transport is a pillar of the country. Enterprises are called to ensure essential links, often in areas where there are no railway alternatives, but are operating under prohibitive economic conditions. You cannot continue to cover the entire weight of this waste, which is eroding the liquidity necessary for the maintenance of the means and investments in the ecological transition – explains Cna -. The companies in the sector call for urgent comparison with the institutions for the extension and strengthening of specific tax credits for the transport sector, in order to mitigate the immediate impact of oil costs and the introduction of professional fuel in order to prevent the continuous fluctuations of the market. The companies of the sector hope that the Government will put the issue at the centre of the political agenda, aware that public and private transport on rubber is an indispensable asset for the economic recovery and social cohesion of Italy”.
