JOHANNESBURG (SUDAFRICA) (ITALPRESS) – On the fight against climate change and the transition to clean energy “the EU wants to bring a message of hope and opportunity to this G20 summit. It is a message about technologies and transitions to clean energy. Why not just meet our urgent need to address climate change. They do much more, and business houses are now improving considerably. Transitions towards clean energy are competitive in terms of cost. They create good jobs. They open new roads to bring modern energy to the many millions of people who remain without access to energy, and are a natural choice for many developing economies.” So the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, at the press conference in Johannesburg with the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, in view of the G20 summit.
“Because it is the resources that these developing economies have in abundance. It is not only solar energy, but also wind, geothermal, hydroelectric and new low-emission fuels. But so that the transition to clean energy really succeeds, it must happen everywhere. This is important. This is where reliable cooperation between trusted partners is once again the best way to go,” he added.
