Gaza, the first Palestinians in need of urgent care in Rome

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – A C130J Hercules of the Air Force landed last night in Ciampino, coming from Eilat. This is the first three flights planned for a new humanitarian operation in favour of civilians in the Gaza Strip.

The initiative involves the transfer of 26 patients to Italy who need urgent care, together with their families, for a total of 117 people. The first 4 patients, all under the age of 4, arrived in Ciampino, near the 31st flock.

To wait for them were the ambulances that transferred them to the Umberto I polyclinic and to the Child Jesus of Rome, as well as to the Santobono of Naples. The other patients will be transported to the Milan Linate and Pisa airports.

The intervention was coordinated by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers with the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health.

The Civil Protection Department, the Italian Red Cross and several health facilities have also collaborated. Thanks to this mission, the number of Palestinian civilians welcomed and treated in our state exceeds 900.
