GERUSALEMME (ISRAELE) (ITALPRESS) – US ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz announced that he would expect “next” announcements on the progress of the peace plan of US President Donald Trump for the Gaza Strip. The statements were reported by the Israeli media after the meeting in Jerusalem between the diplomat and Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
In a press release issued by Herzog’s office, Waltz praised the UN Security Council resolution last month on Gaza as “probably the best resolution we have seen for Israel, for stability in the region”, stating that “it was not only a huge rhetoric, but it puts a clear plan in place.”.
Among the next announcements to which Walz refers are the Council for Peace and the Committee of Palestinian technocrats that will be established within the plan to oversee the management of Gaza, and the international force that will pave the Strip.
“I believe we will attend next announcements regarding the Council for Peace, led by President Trump. The key components of this are a Palestinian technocrats authority to obtain water, gas, sewerage, to restore basic services in Gaza. Of course, a financing mechanism and then the international stabilization force”, he said.
One of the points is that “Hamas must leave”, he concluded. For your part, Israeli President Herzog said: “We hope the process doesn’t take too long, because in the Middle East, if you wait too long, the vacuum fills.”.
