BERLIN (ITALPRESS) – As polls close for Germany’s elections, early exit polls put the CDU in first place with 29 percent. They are followed by AFD with 19.5 percent, SPD at 16 percent, Greens 13.5 percent and Die Linke at 8.5 percent. Just below the 5 percent threshold the FDP liberals (4.9 percent) and BSW (4.7 percent).
“A fantastic election. We did very well. From the exit polls, we are the only party to have doubled our votes compared to the last election. We are ready to be involved in a government coalition to carry out the will of the German people,” were the first words of Alternative Fur Deutschland leader Alice Weidel, addressing her supporters after the first exit polls gave the far-right party second with
19.5 percent of the vote.
